GIATA announces product launch at ITB – Room Type Mapping

Berlin, 04.03.2019 - GIATA will present their Room Type Mapping solution at the 53rd ITB Berlin, Germany from 6th to 10th March 2019. The challenges of Room Type Mapping are well known in the industry and have long been considered to be unsolvable. Each provider names their room types differently from the next provider making it very confusing for the OTA to determine which room types are actually being offered. Since there are no uniform naming conventions or industry standards, it is seemingly impossible to compare room type offers on a like-for-like basis. Because it is difficult to identify and compare similar room types, most current solutions involve “work arounds”. These work arounds mean that the customer doesn't receive the widest possible choice of room types per hotel at the most competitive prices. Alternatively the customer may be presented with a long list of inconsistently labelled room types, from which they have to make their own selections.

GIATA is pleased to announce a completely new answer to solving one of the most complex problems within the online hospitality sector. Until now the market was using the traditional data mapping approach which is not the most efficient and sustainable method. GIATA is using an algorithmic approach, which requires minimal mapping and is provider independent.

“GIATA Room Type Mapping will enable your customers to make comparisons across inconsistently named room types from multiple suppliers and provide clarity to your customer on a wider set of options including room type, best available price and board basis of choice. Additionally, it will create a toolset for clients which will establish upsell opportunities, increase conversion and upgrade the user experience. Moreover it will allow your customers to create bespoke searches based on room type characteristics. This might be for example accessible rooms, or a villa with pool.“
