How our calculation is being done

The number of recommended hours required per month for manual content updates (or required workdays for hotel chains).

Method:
GIATA internal research with over 1,000 hoteliers involved. Not all hotels will actually use this much time (due to staff on furlough, a general lack of human resources, priorities, expertise, etc.), but this is the minimum recommended for good online hotel content to reduce dependency on a few large OTAs and truly diversify distribution.


GIATA is linked to more than 20,000 online channels in 74 countries (and growing).
This calculation comes from Cornell University (one of the best hospitality schools in the world), which named it the hotel “billboard effect”. Our tool applies this study’s notable findings and makes them accessible to any hotel without the need for technical or IT knowledge! For more information, please click here.

For instance, if you have 1,000 bookings a month, all booking channels combined, then this percentage will add to your existing bookings as additional potential online bookings due to your hotel’s increased booking channel presence on up to 20,000 OTAs and other travel channels via GIATA DRIVE.

Suppose this percentage is 25%, then your new online bookings potential is 1,250! That is 250 more online bookings per month than normal!
